The purpose of the 3D printing project was to gain a better understanding of how to use Inventor with the 3D printer. The objective then was to choose between either creating an object than could hold at least 4 toothbrushes, earbuds, 50 coins and/or cellphone all equal to or less than the dimensions of 5" by 5" by 5". My first idea involved doing the toothbrush project, and the design would be a tooth toothbrush holder with holes in the four corners. However, I realized quickly that my knowledge with Inventor was not up to par with what I intended to do, so I changed my layout. My final design was a cylinder with the bottom half of the horizontal side cut off so that it's able to lay flat on the bottom. I put a hole in the middle so that I could put toothpaste as well with the 4 toothbrushes. For the toothbrushes, I put two holes each on opposite sides of the hole for the toothpaste. This was all done by completing the necessary steps on Inventor and then printing out my object on the 3D printer by following the necessary steps on MakerBot as well.
